In 1805 a group of Salem gentlemen, having formed the South Buildings Association,
erected the fine brick building known as Hamilton Hall. This was built as an assembly
hall from plans by Samuel McIntire, the renowned architect and wood carver of
Salem, and was named in honor of Alexander Hamilton.
The Hall is famous for its design, for the ballroom with its spring floor, imported mirrors, and musicians' balcony, and for the arched Supper Room. Other rooms include the Lafayette Room, the Pickering Room, and the Old Kitchen, now known as the Brick Hearth.
Profit realized from these lectures is presented to Hamilton Hall, Inc., each year as a contribution toward the maintenance of Hamilton Hall.
Contributions from those interested in Hamilton Hall, but unable to attend the lectures, will be gratefully appreciated.
